Meet Little Robot Friends: a MUST Have for Teaching Coding and Electronics

October 27, 2016 by Cat Weers

Do you buy yourself Christmas presents?  (raising my hand) I sure do!

I just purchased my Christmas present to myself today, a Spikey robot from Little Robot Friends.

Meet Spikey! Isn’t he the cutest thing you have EVER seen?

You may be wondering what’s so special about Spikey and why I am already buying myself a Christmas present in October….

I stumbled upon Little Robot Friends (LRF) on Twitter, where I typically find new tech tools to try. No, this is not a sponsored post. I am not receiving any compensation to promote this cool tool…I just want everyone who has a maker space, after school tech club, or a technology class to know about LRF.

Not only are LRF ADORABLE, they are super charged to teach kids coding and electronics in a way that doesn’t even seem like learning.  They come in three shapes and have limitless possibilities to customize them- from their personalities to unique actions. From left to right, check out Spikey, Ghosty, and Curvy!

The robots come in two different versions- “Ready to Play” and “Ready to Make.”  I purchased the “Ready to Play” Spikey but if you want to build a robot, LRF makes it easy to tackle. With the “Ready to Make” kit, you receive 16 easy to solder pieces to create a robot. You can also brag to all your friends that you’ve made a robot…because you are a genius, of course!

Below you will see the amazing educational resources that are upcoming from LTR. Starting in November, the app will be available, which is free to download and will be the easiest way to customize your robots. There is also an Arduino library that will be launching in November. Next spring, the cool kids who have LRFs will enjoy programming their bots with Blockly.

LRF is great for:

  • STEM
  • Electronics
  • Coding
  • Computer Science
  • Technology Courses and Clubs
  • A gift for your techie kid (or yourself)

Right now, LRF is offering 25% off the retail price for pre-orders, which will ship to you in time for Christmas. They were also kind enough to provide myself and my readers with a free shipping code, robotlove for a limited time.

Subscribe to my email list to get an update once I have my Spikey delivered to me and I get a chance to allow students to check it out!
